

Charles O. Penney Jr., 84, of Mansfield, passed away early Saturday morning, May 13, 2017, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital, Hospice Unit. He was born February 17, 1933, in Ankneytown, Ohio, to the late Charles O. and Catherine (Beal) Penney Sr.
Charles had a beautiful singing voice which he used during his high school years and, later in life, with the Master Singers and the Fun Center Chordsmen. He retired from Mansfield Tire and Rubber Company and had also worked at General Motors. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy being honorably discharged in 1960. Charles was a member of American Legion Post #26, V.F.W., and 20/30 Club.
Charles is survived by his wife of 52 years, Miriam (Leedy) Wise-Penney; three sons, Steve (Peggy) Penney of AR, John Penney of Mansfield and Paul Wise of IN; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Gary (Penny) Penney of Lexington; and a nephew, Russell Penney of Columbus. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sons, Michael and David Penney.
There will be no services at this time. He will be laid to rest in Owl Creek Cemetery in Knox County. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family.
