

Chester Stephens, 51, of Mansfield, died Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at his residence. Born August 25, 1959 in Willard, Ohio, he was the son of Gobel and Leora (Shepherd) Stephens and was the youngest boy of nine children. He had resided in Mansfield for the past 33 years and had worked for U-Brand and F.E. Myers in Ashland, Dalton Industries and Ohio Valley Manufacturing. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, gardening and road trips to Lake Erie as well as other places. The outdoorsman that he was, he took great pride in teaching his nephews, friends and family everything he knew about hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda (Adkins) Stephens whom he married June 30, 1981; brothers and sisters, Julia (Elzie) Shepherd, Jesse (Myra) Stephens, Lona (Robert) Stewart, Carter (Linda) Stephens, Sandra (Leslie) Fulk, Louis Stephens and Marie (Tim) Kiser; his grandmother, Nettie Garver; brother-in-law, Jimmy Adkins; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, PFC James Stephens.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield conducted by Dr. Johnny Heckard. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., at the funeral home on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of North Central Ohio.
