Claire E. Hoover, 91, of Mansfield, died Friday, July 1, 2016 at Primrose Assisted Living. Born March 1, 1925, in Ashland, she was the daughter of Hiram and Katherine (Canning) Echelberger. She was raised in Hayesville, Ohio by her grandparents, Edwin and Lizzy Elizabeth Echelberger.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, past President and member of the Amvets Post 26 Auxiliary and the Moose Lodge Auxiliary Drill Team in her younger years. She retired from Knell and Freehafer Law Firm where she worked as a Legal Secretary.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bob Hoover; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Becca Hoover, Don and Nahed Hoover and Tom and Marla Hoover; 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. She was preceded in death by a son, Terry Hoover.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. Burial will be held in Mansfield Cemetery at a later date.
