Concetta Mary Thrush

Concetta M. Thrush, 93, of Mansfield, passed away early Monday morning, December 5, 2016, at Kingston of Ashland. She was born January 14, 1923, in Canton, Ohio, to Rocco Joseph Nicita and Lucille Carpinelli Nicita.

Growing up, it was evident Concetta was ornery and loved to laugh. She carried these traits through to her adulthood and was a delight to be around. A strong and generous lady, she maintained her strong Christian values in every decision she made. Concetta was a wonderful homemaker, tremendous baker-always making cakes for everyone's birthday-and celebrating the many family gatherings held throughout the years. She enjoyed crochet, sewing, and her gardens, both flower and vegetable, were beautiful and bountiful.

She was very involved in her children's young lives and served as Brownie and Girl Scout leader for her daughters' troops. Concetta was an active member of Oakland Lutheran Church. She was very involved in the Sunday school program and served as Director of Bible School and the designated church flower arranger. Her contributions extended beyond the visible to the intangible love of praying for her church family.

She is survived by three daughters, Gloria (Tom) Garrison of Mansfield, Judy (Dave) Ramsey of Mansfield, Marilyn (Jim) Jarvis of Texas; a son, Ken Thrush of Mansfield; eleven adorable grandchildren; twenty-four treasured great-grandchildren; two wonderful great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Rosemary Tamburino of Toledo, Ohio, and Angie (Jim) Jacobs of Parma, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews and other dear relatives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Thrush; and brother, Jim Nicita.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2016, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home Saturday at 9:00 a.m. with Pastor Paul Lintern and Concetta's grandson, Pastor Tom Garrison officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
