Dan was known as a hard worker and a no-nonsense man who believed in doing things the right way. He had a rare gift for working with his hands and was widely known as a small engine wizard, able to fix just about anything that wouldn’t run. If it had a motor, Dan could bring it back to life.
He found peace in the outdoors and loved fishing, enjoying the quiet moments it brought. Dan was also a true Harley man, deeply devoted to his motorcycle and the freedom of the open road. Riding wasn’t just a hobby for him—it was part of who he was.
Dan was an Army veteran and received a medal for National Defense Service. After his military career, he began his civilian career at OSR (Ohio State Reformatory), and ManCI. He retired after 30 years as a correctional officer. He was a proud honorary lifetime member of the Sentinel Warriors Motorcycle Club, where he shared strong bonds of brotherhood, loyalty, and respect with fellow riders.
Dan will be remembered for his grit, skill, independence, and steady presence. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, mechanical know-how, and a life lived on his own terms.
Dan leaves behind his wife, Kay Leclair; his children, Tina (Derrick) Sqrow, Shawn Skelton, Danny (Brandy Lambert) Skelton, and Robert (Angie Gasparac) Leclair; his grandchildren, Aubrey, Audrey, Mars, Shawnee, Akari, Mason, Mylee, Zayah, Zachary, Gage, and Danny; his great-grandchildren, Clark, Daniel and Amara; his sister, Joyce (Bill) Leclair-Cooper; and his brother, Don (Shelli) Leclair.
