
Daniel Rodriguez, 74, of Mansfield, died October 23, 2015. Born August 1, 1941 in Berne, Indiana, he was the son of Thomas and Rosa (Solano) Rodriguez. Daniel graduated from Galion High School and went on to serve in the Army, where he was later honorably discharged. He worked at National Seating as a foreman before pursuing a career in insurance. He went to work for State Farm Insurance as an Agent for over 40 years. Active in the AmVets, the Owl's, the Elk's, American Legion, and the Moose, Daniel coordinated many fundraisers for all the clubs, always wanting to give back to those in need. One of his favorite organizations to raise money for was St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Outside of club memberships, Daniel also volunteered for the Special Olympics through State Farm. As part of National Seating, Daniel was a part of Junior Achievement, helping young people prosper in their life endeavors.
In his free time, Daniel enjoyed canning, especially stuffing hot peppers. He was a great cook and could make Mexican dinners to help fund the clubs he was a part of. A very giving man, Daniel was always helping someone in need. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie and mushroom hunting. Daniel attended St. Peter's Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Mary "Diane" (Wake) Rodriguez; children, Dana Ann Rodriguez (Douglas) Steele, Daniel Christopher (Paula) Rodriguez, and Michael Allen (Renee Metzler) Rodriguez; grandchildren, Abigail and Amelia Steele, Ryan Rodriguez (Veronica Patton), Kilian Finnegan, and Alex and Alyssa Rodriguez; brother, Sam Rodriguez; sister, Antonia; numerous nieces and nephews; and many special loving friends and State Farm office staff, Treva, Christina, Christy, Paula, and Pam.
Along with his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his aunt and uncle who raised him, Beatrice and Ralph Rodriguez; sister, Mary Lou Rodriguez; and brother, Tommy Rodriguez.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, October 26, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. A vigil service will be held at 8:00 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 104 West First Street, Mansfield, OH 44902, conducted by Father Gregory Hite. Burial will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to any veteran organization of your choice.
