

Darryl Joseph Bachtel , 58, of Ontario, died Friday, February 13, 2004, at his home after an extended illness. He was born September 15, 1945, in Logan, West Virginia to Claude and Mary Tomblin Bachtel and was a Mansfield area resident the past 39 years. Darryl was employed as a millwright at General Motors. Darryl was a dedicated and faithful 33-year servant and member of the Church of Christ. He was an avid fisherman, wrote poetry, played guitar and enjoyed attending his grandchildren's activities. He is survived by his wife, Molly Thomas Bachtel; one son, Kyle Bachtel of Ontario; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly Hill and Bob Karr of Shelby and Mary and Mark McCoy of Crestline; six grandchildren, Lindsay, Cole, Chase, and Deaken McCoy, all of Crestline, Rachel and Carter Hill of Shelby and their father, Tim Hill; two brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Jean Maynard of Fairfax, Virginia and Carlos and Renee Bachtel of Dandridge, Tennessee; a sister and brother-in-law, Shelva Jean and Donald Bailey of Monticello, Georgia; and numerous family friends. Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Sunday, February 15 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Church of Christ, 248 Brookwood Way North on Monday at 10:30 a.m., conducted by Pastor Kevin Beck.
