

David B. "Pete" Carter, 77, of Galion passed away at his home after sustaining a fall on Tuesday, February 6, 2018. He was born on March 23, 1940 in Mansfield and was the son of the late Robert and Norma (Russell) Carter.
David, affectionately referred to as "Pete" as this was the nickname given to him by his brother when he came home from the hospital, attended Lexington High School and Elohim Bible College in New York. He was a 2nd generation electrician and had worked in the family business, Carter Electric in Galion. A tough man on the outside, but could be a softy on the inside with a very caring heart. His friends and family were near and dear to him. Pete lived for several years at the Grand Canyon and worked as an electrician on the North Rim. He was a member of the Owls, the Moose, and the Elks Clubs all in Galion. He attended Wesley Chapel. He had a love for bluegrass music and enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening. He had a love for John Deere tractors, garden railroading and live steam railroad.
Anyone who knew Pete, would agree that he lived life on his own terms.
He is survived by his lifelong companion, Joyce A. Bechtol; children, John M. (Tee) Carter, Timothy D. (Susan) Carter, and Allison E. (Andrew) Carter-Deloach; brothers, Robert A. (Jackie) Carter and Richard M. (Shelba) Carter; sister, Mary Raines; grandchildren, Valerie, Michael, Colleen, Nicholas and Amy Carter; and many dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00 pm, Friday, February 16, 2018 at Wesley Chapel, 260 6th Avenue in Galion, officiated by Pastor Joe Stafford. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the Carter family.
