David Dean Laney, 57, of Shiloh, died March 12, 2015. Born January 1, 1958 in Willard, he was the son of Dave Jr. and Millie Frances (Tackett) Laney. A very strong man both physically and emotionally, David was a fighter, even over the past year, having his share of ups and downs with his health. He always kept up with his family and friends, even when he was ill, and was dedicated to his family. When his parents were still living, he enjoyed his daily visits with them. David was thoughtful of others and never had a harsh word to say. He had a giving soul and couldn't tell anyone "no". In his free time, David enjoyed caring for his home and his yard, gardening, and being at church. He liked his small town life. David loved to eat, especially at Shiloh's yearly Ox Roast and fried chicken! The best brother anyone could ask for, David was patient, kind, inquisitive, and persistent. He will truly be missed.
Surviving are his children, Sherry (Chad) Finley and Matthew Laney; grandchildren, Alyssa, Noah, and Micah; sister, Debra (Ronald) Burton; brothers, Terry (Tammy) Laney and Richard Laney; eight aunts and uncles; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette "Jan" Laney; brother, Jeffrey Laney; grandparents, Noah and Adeline Tackett and Dave and May Laney; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, March 15, 2015 from 2-5 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Apostolic Faith Assembly, 258 Stadium Street, Mansfield, conducted by Pastor Robert O'Brian. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for a trust fund for his son, Matthew.
