Born on November 18, 1934 in Carbon, West Virginia to Lon and Dollie (Legg) Miller, he left home at the age of 17 with his brother Lon Jr. to join the United States Army. He was honorably discharged from the military with a rank of sergeant and was a decorated Korean War veteran having fought at Pork Chop Hill and being awarded, among others, a combat infantryman’s badge and the bronze star. He was proud to have served his country and to be a veteran. Denny retired from General Motors in 1992, after 33 years of service. He was a proud member of UAW Local 549. He worked in most every department in the shop, but retired out of the mechanical devices department. He enjoyed attending Cornerstone Free Will Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee and President of the Silver Saints seniors group. He was loved by all, but the children loved him best probably because he would always hold the pail of bubble gum after Sunday services. He dedicated a lot of his free time helping out at the church. Amongst his other pastimes, he liked traveling, fishing and hunting with his family and friends; but he would probably say his favorite thing to do was spending time with his grandchildren. He taught each of his six grandchildren to swim, frequented their sporting events and school functions, and was active in mentoring them in whatever way he could. They were the joy of his life. He was also a “grandfather” to all his nieces and nephews who were an integral part of his life, treating them like his own grandchildren.
He is survived by his three daughters, Debbie (Darrell) Mabry, Sandy Eilenfeld and Karen (Kenny) Gibson, all of Mansfield. Six grandchildren, Christopher Mabry, D.C., Brian (Lisa) Mabry, D.C., Kara (Rich) Willett, Keith Gibson, Lauren and Daniel Eilenfeld. Two brothers, William Miller and Lincoln D Miller both of Foster, West Virginia, sister- in- law Lily (Lon Jr) Miller of Maryland. Sisters and brothers- in- law Frances (Sam) Kinkade, Delores (Duran) Parson, Dean (Sue) White, Jimmy (June) White and Jerry White all of Mansfield, a dear friend Ellen Isner Spradling of West Virginia, and many special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Helen, parents Lon and Dollie Miller and brothers Lon Jr. and Bobby Miller.
