Diane Brook Roberts, 73, died Saturday May 5, 2007. She joined her beloved husband Bud, who preceded her in death on May 2, 2007. She was born in Mansfield, Ohio, and graduated from Mansfield Senior High. She was the first runner up in the Miss Ohio pageant in 1952. She moved to The Villages, Florida in 2002. Diane was a proud patriot and she and Bud were both especially proud of their grandson, Andy who served his country in Iraq. Diane was a master chef of real home cooking, accomplished storyteller, self-taught investor, bridge player, bowler, gardener, family historian and a prolific e-mailer. There was always room for one more at her dinner table. She was happiest with a cup of weak tea, a crossword puzzle, oatmeal raisin cookies and Jones Potato Chips, which she hid from her children. An active member of the Tri-county OSU club in The Villages, Diane helped Bud root for the Buckeyes with the group. She was active in their charitable activities and loved the fact that they could do so much good while having so much fun. She was also an avid fan of her beloved Browns and Indians.
Diane is survived by and dearly missed by her children, Toni, Piper Jeanne P.J., and David; sisters Jeanne and Peggy; brother Bill; grandchildren, Heather, Brook, Andrew, Adam, Emily, Michele and Riley; great-grandchildren, Avery, Parker, and Katelyn all of whom she adored. In addition, Diane loved and was loved by numerous nieces and nephews, in-laws and other relatives, including her very special niece, Vicki. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bud; sister Betty; grandchildren Ryan, Christopher, and Nicole; and her friends, confidants and protectors, Missy, Valentine, Friday, Churchill, Toby, and Sunday, all of whom she loved and loved her. She never met a dog she didn't like, but was especially fond of boxers.
