Donald Applegate

Donald Applegate, 72, of Mansfield, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. Born August 3, 1949 in Mansfield, he was the son of Clarence P. and Anne E. (Kasica) Applegate.

Donald worked as an accountant and loved spending time with his family and watching them participate in sporting events. He enjoyed working around the house, golfing, college sports, following the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Donald volunteered to coach soccer, baseball and softball and also enjoyed bowling every Friday night having had one 300 game. He was obsessed with his yard with his goal being to have the nicest yard in his neighborhood. Donald spent a lot of time cutting firewood on the family farm and loved his two dogs, Sadie and Mitsy.

He is survived by his wife, Linda (Moore) Applegate; his children, Tim (Michelle) Applegate, Dan (Leslie) Applegate and Christi (Jerry Buyer) Rock; his grandchildren, Denise, Gabby, Willow, Bailee, Cole, Morgan, Lacey, Levi, Dominik, Kaitlyn and Ryan; his great grandchildren, Aiden, Ariella and Ellie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ron Applegate; and his nephew, Matt Applegate.

Friends may call from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 28, 2022 at the Wappner Cremation Center, 1327 Ashland Road, Mansfield where a memorial service will he held at 3:00 p.m. conducted by Pastor Lorry Mabiala.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Richland County or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
