
Donald Devere Bowman 'The Barber', 82, of Mansfield died early Thursday morning, August 16, 2001, at his home after a long illness. He was born September 3, 1918 in Joy, Ohio, to Clyde William and Mary Dora Nott Bowman. He owned and operated Don's Barber Shop for 45 years in the Roseland area. Don was a very giving and generous person who loved his family and his barbershop. He was a workaholic who practiced his skills for 61 years.
Along with his wife of 44 years, Janice M. Myers Bowman, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, David Devere and Sherry Ann Bowman of Mansfield; two daughters, Debra Eileen Bowman and Donelda Marlene Donni Bowman, both of Crestline; four grandsons, David Devere Jr., Brian William, and Daniel Joseph all of Mansfield, and Robert Donald Esno of Crestline; one granddaughter, Cheyenne Star Bowman of Crestline; and two great-granddaughters, Shayla Marie and Shelby Alexandria Ann Bowman both of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Mary Bowman; an infant son, Bryon Donald Bowman; three brothers, Neil, Howard, and his twin brother Dean Bowman; and one sister, Dorothy Estella Price.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Friday, August 17, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, American Heart Association, and MedCentral Hospice.
