
Donald D. Myers, 80 of Mifflin, died Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at his residence. Born November 30, 1930 in Mifflin, he was the son of John and Urath Frietchen Myers. Donald was a lifelong resident of Mifflin and graduated from Hayesville High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War went on to retire from the 179th Air National Guard after 36 years of service from 1954 to 1990. Donald was extremely proud of his military service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ashland, Masonic Mansfield Lodge #35, the American Legion Post 16, 40 et 8, and the VFW. In his free time, Donald enjoyed traveling to places like Germany, Alaska, and Hawaii.
He is survived by his sister, Janet Shenberger of Mansfield; nieces, Debra Fletcher of Goose Creek, SC, Cathi Titus of Manfield, and Kerri Golden of Fishers, IN; and nephews, James R. Myers of Ontario and Robert Shenberger of Bellville. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose in 1994; sisters, Helen Myers and Mabel Myers; and brother, James R. Myers.
Friends may call Friday, July 8, 2011 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Dr. F. R. "Butch" White. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Military graveside honors will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
