Donald Max Rowland

Donald Max Rowland, 88, of Galion passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the Mill Creek Nursing Home. He was born on October 27, 1928 in Chesterhill, OH to the late Samuel and Rollina (StClair) Rowland.

Donald grew up in Chesterhill, Ohio. His career path took him on many adventures as he began working on the railroad, then went to work at Westinghouse and to Perfection until they closed. At this time he became a pig farmer, and enjoyed working in the pits of stock car races as well. He also enjoyed the Indy 500.

He is survived by his three children, Dan (Juanita) Rowland, Karen Hannan, and Duane (Deborah) Rowland; ten grandchildren, Dan Rowland Jr., Wendy Edwards, Carla Thomas, Robin Patterson, Elizabeth Keller, Richard Hannan III., Charles Hannan, Denise Rowland, Melissa Davis, and Sean Rowland; numerous great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Viola Rowland and Patsy Rowland. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy Rowland; daughter Deborah Luster; siblings, Art Rowland, Clifford Rowland, Clayton Rowland, Oran Rowland, and Hazel Pettet.

The family will welcome friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington Springmill Rd. The funeral service officiated by Pastor Chris Spencer will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Shauck Cemetery.
