Donnie R. Gardner

Donnie was a veteran of the United States Navy and enjoyed spending time with all of his many friends. He was a generous and loving father who dearly loved his family and will be missed.

He is survived by two daughters, Cynthia (Robin) Douglas of Greensboro, North Carolina and Keshia Gardner of Atlanta, Georgia; 10 grandchildren, Pharissa Toston, Skylar Toston and Thurgood Toston all of Georgia, Jasmine Stewart, Dominic Weldon, Carrington Douglas, Madison Douglas, Jennifer Douglas, Nolan Douglas and Luca Douglas all of North Carolina; four great grandchildren, Quinn, Carson, Maddox and Axel all of North Carolina; two sisters, Elizabeth Haliburton of Detroit, Michigan and Mildred Davis of Mansfield; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Willie Carpenter, Jessi Forsythe and Sarah Hall; and a brother, Willie Gardner, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 South Diamond Street, Mansfield conducted by Rev. Walter Thornton. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, from 1:00-2:00 p.m., at the funeral home on Wednesday. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park, Greensboro, North Carolina.
