Doris Jean (Baumberger) Henke, age 80, of Ontario, passed away early Wednesday evening, September 19, 2012. She was born November 8, 1931 in Mansfield to the late David and Florence (Bogner) Baumberger.
Doris enjoyed dancing in her younger years and enjoyed watching dance shows on television. In her spare time, she could be found quilting, sewing or reading at the library. In a quest to further her education, she began nursing school at the age of 50 and made the Dean’s List for 2 years, along with her youngest sister. Doris retired from Mansfield General Hospital where she worked as a LPN for 10 years. As further testament to her giving nature, she showered her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with many gifts throughout the years.
An independent woman who enjoyed staying busy, Doris volunteered her time at the hospital and the Renaissance Theater. Her greatest enjoyment came in spending time with her family.
She is survived by six children, Sharyn (Steve) Stalcup of FL, Karyn (Charles) Christman of Galion, Mathew Henke of MT, Mitchell Henke of NC, Martin (Julie) Henke of MO and Marc (Angie) Henke of Ontario; a daughter-in-law, Donna Henke of MO; thirteen grandchildren, Anthony, Mac, Amanda, Joe, David, Dina, Abby, Mason, Tony, Sherman, Clarissa, Curtis, and Logan; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Evelyn) Baumberger; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Henke; a grandson, Randy Christman; and ten brothers and sisters.
