Doris L. Stone

Doris Louise Clark Stone passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, following a long and fulfilling life. She was born in Ashland, OH on November 3, 1919 to Dow Jay and Doris Marie (Glessner) Clark.

She married Herman Stone on January 9, 1937 and they spent the next 61 years raising their family in Ashland. He preceded her in death in 1997.

Doris retired from Samaritan Hospital in 1991 after 27 years as a nurse’s assistant. She was an avid reader and enjoyed baking for her family and friends.

Doris is survived by four children and their families, son Terry Lee (Sharon) of Palm Coast, FL and his children Terry Lee II and Samantha Stone Simon; son Ronald Jay (Cappie) of Ashland and their children, Bryan, Mitchell (deceased), Stacey Stone Lucas and Craig; daughter Dara Lynne (Jerry) Jones of Elizabeth City, NC and her children Erin Gongwer Collins and Eric Gongwer; son Danny Lorin (Kay) and their son, Jared. Also surviving are sixteen great-grandchildren and a nephew Dow Clark III.

In addition to her husband and grandson, Doris was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter and siblings Dow Clark II, who was missing in action during The Korean War, Blanche Clark Hamilton and Jack Clark.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Ave. Ashland. A private family graveside burial will follow in Ashland Cemetery.
