Dorothy Phillips

Dorothy Belle Phillips, 84, of Mansfield, OH died January 22, 2014. Born on April 30, 1929 she was the daughter of James Leroy and Mary (Stahl) Stroble. Dorothy was a very giving, intelligent, unselfish, generous lady who had many hobbies. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, reading, doing word searches, solving jigsaw puzzles, tending to her rose beds and flowers, going to garage sales, and baking cutout cookies. During her earlier years, Dorothy worked as a Dietary Cook at Peoples Hospital. Her most recent job from which she retired, was working at the meat counter at Brandt's Farmers Market. Dorothy was a faithful member of Ridgeway Church of God, where she was one of the "back row ladies".

Surviving are her sons, James E. (Vicki) Phillips of Gilson, IL, Donald L. (Louise) Phillips of Mansfield, and Steven A. (Estelle) Phillips of Goodyear, AZ; daughters, Karen S. (Philip) Leaman of Lexington, OH and Wendy K. (Vincent) Schag of Mansfield; twelve grandchildren, Shelly Shifflet, Shannon Rissler, Casey Clifton, Misty Huggins, Samantha Phillips, Elizabeth "Libby" Phillips, Stephanie Phillips, Tiffanie Tucker, Diana Phillips, Nicholas "Nick" Phillips, Luke Phillips, and Noell Schag; thirteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sister, Joyce (Kenneth) Stevens of Mansfield; sister in-law and brother in-law, Judy (Adam) Giess; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and good friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Richard "Dick" Phillips; grandson, Kevin Phillips; great granddaughter, Angel Thorne; and good friend and confidant, Howard Logan.

Family and friends are invited to call from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington Springmill Rd., Ontario. Funeral services, conducted by Pastor John Dodds, will be held Friday, January 31, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
