Douglas Ramey

Douglas C. Ramey, 79, of Mansfield, died late Sunday evening, July 9, 2006, at his residence. Born September 14, 1926, in Amonata, Virginia, he was the son of Emory and Elizabeth Markum Ramey. Mr. Ramey was an area resident most of his life, working for 18 years with Conrail. He enjoyed tinkering around the house and working on his antique 1956 Mercury. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Julia Eiklor Ramey; two sons, Douglas Barbara Ramey of California and Vernon Susan Ramey of Mansfield; a daughter, Debbie Jim Hill of Perrysburg; six grandchildren, Stephanie Campbell, Steven Ramey, Christina Ramey, Josh Ramey, Tiffany Fankhauser, and Nick Fankhauser; twin brother, Donald Ramey of Richlands, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews in Richlands. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Garland and Ronald Ramey, sister, Eileen Cunningham and granddaughter, Amber Ramey.

Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Tuesday, July 11 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with additional calling from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Military graveside services conducted by Richland County Joint Veteran's Burial Detail will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
