Dr. Milan Knickerbocker, 62, of Mansfield, died Monday, November 26, 2007 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born May 30, 1945 in Cloquet, Minnesota, he was the son of Clyde and Rose Knickerbocker. Retiring from the field of education, he received undergraduate degrees in Education and English from Bemidji State University in Minnesota, Master's degrees in Education and Counseling from the University of Wisconsin and a Ph.D. in Adult Continuing Education from the University of Illinois. Dr. Knickerbocker served during the Vietnam War with the U.S. Army. He was a devoted father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Dr. Joan Miller Knickerbocker, a Professor in Education at Ashland University; son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Jennifer Knickerbocker of Lancaster, OH; and grandson, Nicholas Knickerbocker of Lancaster. His parents preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 1 at 1:00 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Military rites conducted by the Richland County Joint Veteran's Burial Detail will be observed at the funeral home.
