

Edward Lee Kurtz, 56, of Mansfield died January 14, 2003. He went home to be with his heavenly Father on Tuesday. Mr. Kurtz was born October 27, 1946 in Lucas to the late Caleb and Mary Kurtz. A graduate of Lucas High School, he was a member of Mansfield Freewill Baptist Church. He was a loving father, husband and a devoted Papa to his 7 grandchildren. He had a very special love for the Lord, which he showed thru his bus ministry, where he was known as Mr. Ed of Bus #4 at Mansfield Baptist Temple for many years. Ed retired from the Lexington Avenue Kroger store.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Alena Kurtz; two daughters and a son-in-law, Shellie M. and Michael L. Teeters and Pamela Lynn Kurtz and special friend, Shaine Taylor, all of Mansfield; foster daughter, Kari Randall of Mansfield; son, Jason E. Kurtz of Mansfield; seven grandchildren, Emily Lamb of Tennessee, Jordan Carver, Mikey and Matthew Randall, Bobbie and J.C. Kurtz and Brian Teeters; four sisters and their spouses, Martha and Wilbur Brumenshenkel, Mary and Dale Heston, Naomi and William Harry, and Dorothy and Daniel Sorg; seven brothers and their spouses, John and Alma Kurtz, James and Marilyn Sue Kurtz, Raymond and Jody Kurtz, David Kurtz, Kenneth and Gwen Kurtz, Eugene and Brenda Kurtz, and George and Debbie Kurtz; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Ella Osbourne and Caleb Moody Kurtz and his son, Dana E. Kurtz in 1995.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Thursday, January 16 from 6-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Mansfield Freewill Baptist Church on Laver Road, conducted by Rev. Fred Crank. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
