
Eleanor Brunk Cook, 91, of Mansfield died Saturday evening, August 31, 2002 at Woodlawn Nursing Home after an extended illness. Mrs. Cook was born November 29, 1910, in Mansfield and was an area resident all her life. She retired after 30 years as a teacher with Mansfield City Schools. Eleanor attended Central United Methodist Church. She graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1929 and was a member of the retired teachers association, Methodist Women's Circle, Ohio Education Association, and the National Education Association. Eleanor enjoyed reading, playing cards, spending time with her family, and in her younger years, traveling and gardening. She especially loved to hear her grandchildren play the piano and was quite an accomplished pianist herself.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Lois Cook of Crestline, Ohio; four grandchildren and their spouses, Karin and Mark Kinkelaar of Glenmore, Pennsylvania, Sara and Richard Gaines of New Castle, Delaware, Lynda Cook of Glenmore, Pennsylvania and Nathan Cook of Granville, Ohio; three great-grandchildren, Alexander, Spencer and Zachary Kinkelaar of Glenmore, Pennsylvania; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Charles F. Cook in 1983; her parents, Gustav and Bertha Bogniard Brunk; four brothers and four sisters.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Tuesday, September 3, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Wednesday at 10:00 a.m., conducted by Pastor Jeff Croft. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Central United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association.
