Eleanore L. Homesley, 86, of Mansfield, died April 23, 2006. She passed away quietly succumbing to her struggle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born September 7, 1919 to Frank and Mary Cichowski in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, living in Mansfield for over 50 years and recently residing at Mansfield Memorial Homes. She served in the Women's Auxiliary Army Core WAAC during World War II, stationed in Fort Benning, Georgia. Eleanore was a medical secretary for Shamess, Stastny & Auchard, M.D.s, retiring in 1984. She was a volunteer worker for the Mansfield Public Library, Area Agency on Aging, Mansfield General Hospital, Richland County Children's Services and the American Red Cross after her retirement.
She is survived by a son, Mark Homesley of Mansfield, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Matthew, Fred, Raymond and Edward Cichowski and her sister, Mary Stella Glove.
Eleanore's wishes were that there be no calling hours or funeral services. In lieu of flowers and remembering her fondness for reading and literature, contributions in her memory to the Mansfield/Richland County Public Library would be appreciated. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements.
