Ellis W. Richard, 66, of Mansfield, passed away Friday evening, May 13, 2016, at Arbors at Mifflin. He was born August 2, 1949, in Wheeling, West Virginia, to the late Thomas Richard and Mary Shomo Richard.
Ellis was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He deeply loved God and his church and was committed to living a life honoring these values. Playing his guitar, riding his motorcycle, watching football, listening to music and collecting model cars and ducks kept Ellis busy. He had a daily 3:00 p.m. "meeting" to watch Judge Judy.
Ellis was very intuitive and intelligent. He was impressed with the world around him and loved being outdoors appreciating the beauty of nature. Often described as goofy at times, his sense of humor was evident in his interactions with his family and friends. He had a quick wit and was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend. Every moment spent in the company of his family was treasured. Ellis was a fighter when he needed to be and was up to challenges life threw at him. He was a humble man who provided unfailing love and support to the people in his life.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Thompson Richard; children, Jennifer Wade, Kerina Stull, Susan Thomas, Leslie Walker, Melissa Cameron, Pamela Zaring, Molly Richard and Benjamin Richard; grandchildren, Morgan, Kelsey and Cheyenne Wade, Briana, Tino and Ellie Good, Alyssa Thomas, Tristan, Cetera, Gavin, Jared and Madilynn Stull, Trent and Abigail Cameron, Connor Coones and Cade Zaring; nieces and nephews, Mary Pack, Marjie, David and Thomas Griffin; and good friend, Belinda Stacks.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Artie Pack and Tommie Griffin and his granddaughter, Victoria Sheppard.
The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1951 Middle Bellville Road, Mansfield. Bishop Dave Talaga will conduct the service which follows at 4:00 p.m. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family.
