

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Elva Pearl Knowlton, age 88, of Ashland, died Friday, November 13, 2015, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. Born August 23, 1927, in New Matamoras, Ohio, she was the daughter of George and Charlotte (Hall) Moore.
Mrs. Knowlton worked at the Eagle Rubber Company and Therm-O-Disc. She was a member of V.F.W. Post #1067 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with her family. Mrs. Knowlton was known for her famous homemade pies and delicious homemade noodles.
Surviving are her daughter, Lorna Charlene (Ralph E.) Hensel of Ashland; son, Lorn E. (Linda Marie) Knowlton Jr. of Richland County; five grandchildren, Molly Leigh LaRue, Beau Edward Hensel, Stephen Russell (Kelly) Knowlton, all of Ashland, Derek Emmett Knowlton and Bryan Emil Knowlton, both of Richland County; great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Nolen William LaRue, Nevin Emmett LaRue, Mylan Edward LaRue, Hayden Sidney Hensel, Olive Josephine Knowlton and Georgia Beatrice Knowlton; two sisters, Letha Moore and Vernadine Brooks; one brother, George "Tommy" Moore; numerous nieces and nephews; and her precious little dog, Ellie Mae.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lorn E. Knowlton Sr.; her parents; four brothers, Johnny, Henry, Lewis and Otha Moore; and one step-sister, Lulu Nutter.
Friends may visit from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 17, 2015, in the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Avenue, Ashland. Additional visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service which begins at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Pastor Mark Abel will officiate. Burial will follow in Ashland Cemetery.
