Essie Lee Barrett, 77, died Monday, October 11, 2004 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Barrett was born February 25, 1926 to the late Frank Barrett and Retta Perry in Memphis, Tennessee. He was employed with Ohio Brass and Bob Wade Excavating.
Surviving are four sons, Albert Betty Rembert, Jerry Pamela Barrett, Artenson Carter, and Richard Barrett, all of Mansfield; seven daughters, Peggy Mack, Shirley Ward, Almedia Carter, Brenda Barrett, Teresa Barrett, Rhonda Wesley, and Nicole Todd, all of Mansfield; 29 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephew; special nephew Oliver Shaw of Memphis, Tennessee; and special close friends, Sidney Walker, Sr., Marion Gray, Phillip Pender, and Robert McCord, all of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Renza Mae Shaw and Gertrude Manns, one brother, Frank Barrett, Jr., all of Memphis, Tennessee, and one great grandchild, Zyear Gordon of Mansfield.
Previous services have been postponed. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Mansfield Cemetery. Wappner Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements.
