

Eugene "George" S. Floro, 91, of Mansfield, passed away Friday, December 29, 2017 at Novant Health UVA - Haymarket Medical Center. Born September 24, 1926 in Mansfield, Ohio, he was the son of John and Florence (Long) Floro.
He was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II and following the war, worked on the railroad. He then worked in the building maintanence at Mansfield City Schools including Malabar, Roseland and Sherman from where he retired. He was a proud and loyal supporter of all things Mansfield as well as the Cleveland Indians. He was a lifelong member of the Moose Lodge where he created lasting bonds of friendships. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Amvets.
He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, vacationing at Lake Erie, reading and watching old westerns. He especially loved his grandchildren attending many of their sporting events.
He is survived by three daughters, Beverly (Larry) Taylor, Becky (Jim) Chamberlain and Sharon (Jim) Morris; six grandchildren, Tiffany (Luke) Huvler, Ashley (Curtis) Briley, Jacob (Sadie) Chamberlain, Joshua (Tara) Chamberlain, Jenda (Adam) Nelson and Colin Morris; 12 great grandchildren; two sisters, Katherine Streib and Luceal Nickell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Rosemary Floro and a brother, Leonard Floro.
Friends may call from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield where full military honors will be presented by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. A graveside service at Mansfield Cemetery will immediately follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mansfield Moose Lodge.
