

Eugene "Gene" Marshall, 99, of Mansfield, died Friday, February 20, 2015 at Wedgewood Estates. Born March 24, 1915 in Mansfield, he was the son of Charles H. and Hazel L. (Turner) Marshall. A graduate of Mansfield Senior High School, Gene served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a part of the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He worked at Westinghouse for 40 years and also sold real estate. Gene was a Mason for over 60 years and enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians.
He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Baker; son, Jeff Marshall; grandchildren, Don (Alissa) Baker, Brian Marshall, Kirsten (Steve) Ziembo, and Michelle (Lance) Yoder; eight great grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edna F. Marshall whom he married on June 14, 1941.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Ontario, conducted by Pastor Andrew Jones. Friends may call prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Military honors conducted by the Richland County Joint Burial Squad will follow the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to MedCentral Hospice.
