
Born February 18, 1938, in Mansfield, she was the daughter of Sherman and Edith Weaver Harris. She worked as a supervisor at Therm-O-Disc for several years and retired from Hartman Electric. Mrs. Compton was a member of Peoples Baptist Church and collected figurines and glassware. She was a strong willed lady who had a big heart and loved her family dearly.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Lester Compton; two sons, Dick Linda Ward of Mansfield and Michael Compton of Bellville; a daughter, Debbie Bruce Patterson of Mansfield; a daughter-in-law, Laurie Compton of Mansfield; six grandchildren, Ryan Melissa Patterson, Olivia Compton, Joey Compton, Shane and Jeremy Compton and Rochelle Ben Smith; three great grandchildren, Hayley Patterson, Ben Smith and Jillian Smith; two brothers, Larry Patricia Harris of Mansfield and Gary Harris of Meadesville, PA; a sister, Helen Marble of Mansfield; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Tom Compton, Jr.; and a brother-in-law, John Marble.
Memorial funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 21, 2010, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield conducted by Rev. Jack Hackworth. Friends may call one hour prior to the services, from 1-2 p.m., at the funeral home on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
