

Forrest Eugene "Gene" Miller, 73, of Mansfield, died Wednesday afternoon, December 16, 2015, at his home. He was born January 11, 1942, in Waterloo, Ohio, to the late Benjamin and Dorothy (Taylor) Miller.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving with the National Guard. Gene was a 41 year employee of General Motors, retiring as a tow motor operator. He was a life member of Amvets Post #26. He was very proud of his garden and loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, camping and boating. Gene was an Ohio "Super Fan" cheering for all Ohio sports teams. He had a giving heart and his generosity knew no limits. He was privileged to receive the love of his earth angel, his sister, Dianna Henderson.
He is survived by his wife of 47years, Merri Garrison Miller; son, Christopher (Trista) Miller of Mansfield, twin daughters, Tina (Clint) Briggs of Grand Blanc, MI and Gina (Todd) Redman of Galion; daughter, Tiffany Miller of Mansfield; grandchildren, Zachery, Madelyn and Avery Miller, Taylor and Mason Briggs, Kylie, Kelsey and Reese Redman, Olivia Carrington, Jada and Jillian Enlow; a great-grandson, Zayden Czernewski; three siblings, Don (Evelyn) Miller and Dianna (John) Henderson, both of Mansfield, Wilbert (Reggie) Miller of Grayson, KY; special aunt, Audrey Malone; sisters-in-law, Iris Miller of Waterloo, and Hope Miller Glazier of Ironton; brother-in-law, Bill Ryder of Mansfield; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and close friend, Mike Curtis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Dorothy Miller; brothers, Benjamin Junior Miller and Hurl Thomas Miller; sister, Ella Mae Ryder; and niece, Trisha Miller Everhart.
Friends and family may visit from 5-8 p.m. Friday, December 18, 2015, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The family asks that you join in honoring Gene's love of the Buckeyes by wearing Ohio State gear. The funeral service will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. O. Douglas Tackett officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery with military honors presented by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail.
