

A homemaker, she had worked for Therm-O-Disc for a few years. She was proud of celebrating 50 years of being a born again Christian on December 9, 2012 and was a faithful member of Zion’s Refuge Baptist Church. A jolly person with an infectious laugh, she had a great sense of humor and her famous quote was “if you is what you was, you ain’t”. She dearly loved her family especially her grandsons and had hosted many family dinners and holidays and will be greatly missed by all.
She is survived by three daughters, Joan (David) Parsons, Nancy (Tom) Stevens and Ruthie (Tim) Hall; two step daughters, Patricia (Robert) Newport and Pamela (Peter) Poirier; grandchildren, Andrew (Angela) Parsons, Todd (Bethany) Parsons, Timothy (Amanda) Parsons, Matthew (Laura) Parsons, Nehemiah Hall, Caleb Hall and Nathan Deaton; great grandchildren, Sophia, Landon, Jackson, Hayden and Vance Parsons; special friends, Forrest and Phyllis Wilburn and Anna and Basil Coburn; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Vance; two sisters, Lola Backenstow and Eileen Danals; and a brother, David Riddick.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the funeral home conducted by her Pastor David Parsons, Youth Pastor Timothy Parsons, Assistant Pastor Tim Hall of Belmont Community Church and Deacon Tom Stevens of Belmont Community Church. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
