
Fred Matthew Crawford, 85, of Mansfield, died unexpectedly Sunday, May 6, 2007, at his home. Born June 15, 1921, in Shelby, he was the son of Roy and Mae Gantzler Crawford. He retired from Westinghouse Corp. with over 25 years of service. Mr. Crawford was a member of American Legion Post #16, Amvets Post #26, Tailhook Association and Mach Buster Club. An avid bowler and golfer, he enjoyed watching the OSU Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns. He built his family home and enjoyed gardening. He served 27 years in the U.S. Navy retiring as a Lt. Commander.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth M. Stier Crawford; three daughters, Judy Crawford, Barbara Bill Holzworth and Terri Lee Fulk, all of Mansfield; eight grandchildren, Kari Bryan Maglott, Soni James Crist, Kyle Alicia Fulk, Brooke Fulk, Darcie Bret Broom, Bill Holzworth, Jr., Mike Jodie Holzworth, Jon Lori Holzworth; 10 great-grandchildren, Alexa Fulk, Crystal McCann, Gabriel McCann, Chelsi Holzworth, Michael Holzworth, Alyson Holzworth, Haili Holzworth, Alaina Morakis, Christopher Morakis, and soon-to-be born, Nicholas Maglott; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Roy Crawford, Jr.
Friends may call Wednesday, May 9 from 4-8 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Bonnie Peltomaa. Military graveside services will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to St. Timothy Lutheran Church.
