
Gail LaVaughn Haas, 85, of Mansfield, died early morning, Saturday, October 13, 2007 at Lexington Court Care following a one-year battle with cancer. Born September 9, 1922 in Marion, he was the son of Herman N. and Rossie M. Kirch Haas. He graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1941 and served in the U.S. Army during WWII, spending four years in Europe. Mr. Haas married Inez Elaine Alexander on September 10, 1950. They relocated to Mansfield in 1963. He retired as a tool maker from Gorman-Rupp Company in 1987 after 26 years of service and was also a member of the Quarter Century Club of Gorman-Rupp. He was a 60 year member of the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Haas was a member of Diamond Hills Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and reading.
He is survived by his wife, Inez Elaine Haas; daughter and son-in-law, Rochelle Elise and James Baughman of Mansfield; two sons and daughter-in-law, Eric and Susan Haas of Mansfield, and Mark Haas of Ontario; five grandchildren, Kelly Haas, Mark and Susan Baughman, Ray and Tracie Baughman, Carol Baughman, and Daniel Baughman; four great-grandchildren, Rachel, Leah, Connor, and Ada; and one niece and nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Mozelle Benson.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2007 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Christopher Thomas. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery, Fredericktown.
