
Gail Jean Shaffer Prion, 57, of Mansfield, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born October 11, 1950 in Mansfield, she was the daughter of Homer Clayton and Evelyn Sowash Shaffer. She was an area homemaker her entire life. Gail had a genuine love for all types of auto racing and worked at the local racetracks. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star in Shelby, the Moose Lodge and the American Legion.
She is survived by her mother, Evelyn Shaffer; aunts and uncles, Don Rosemary Sowash and family, Norma Jean Hairston and family, Keitha Robert Allen and family, all of Mansfield, Charles Shaffer of Lucas, and Leota Witter and family of Flint, MI; and good friends, Diane Bemiller, Marge and Chuck Sloan, and Eddie and Linda Schultz, all of Mansfield, Susie McClure of Hayesville, Linda Shambra of Tempe, AZ, Susan Anderson of Columbus. The family would like to thank all of Gail's neighbors who have been so kind to her. Preceding her in death were her husband, Earl Prion and father, Homer Clayton Shaffer.
Graveside services will be held Monday, May 12 at 1:00 p.m. in Mansfield Cemetery with Chaplain Chuck Sloan officiating. Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
