

Gary was always a caring and considerate man. As a child he had two baby chicks that his grandmother gave and followed him everywhere he went. He also played a trumpet for the Salvation Army. He married his high school sweetheart in 1965, Dorothy Collins, and he was a beloved husband and a great father. Gary retired from GM after 43 years. During his life, he marched in the Kennedy Inauguration Parade, and served in the Navy during the Cuban Crisis in communications on the USS Conway. Gary was a previous Amvets member. He loved his dog, Sugar Bear and cat, Sammy.
Gary is survived by his wife, Dorothy Collins of Ontario; his daughter, Jennifer Collins of Crestline; his son, Aaron (Sarah) Collins of Marysville; grandchildren, Wren Hawkins and Ross Unetic; mother-in-law, Goldie Lambert; brothers-in-law, Chuck, Gary Lee, and Glen Lambert, and their families; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Lou Savely-Stockton; his stepfather, Harry R. Stockton; grandmother, Nora Savely; son, Christopher Collins; sister, Kay Cash; and niece, Alora Alcott.
Graveside services will be held at Mansfield Memorial Park at a later date. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of Americans, Disabled American Veterans, or the Richland County Humane Society.
