

Gary Allen "Cool Breeze" Hedrick, 62, of Shelby, Ohio, passed away at his home early Saturday morning, October 22, 2016. He was born July 4, 1954, in Steelville, Missouri, one of fourteen children of the late Ernest and Leona May (Medley) Hedrick.
Known affectionately as "Cool Breeze", he being the youngest son, he shared the same birthday as his oldest brother Edward. "Cool Breeze" was easy going and enjoyed the relaxing peace of fishing and taking his boat out. He always worked to make a better life for his family and was a great example of what you can accomplish with a strong work ethic. "Cool Breeze" was always a very strong union man, who retired from Labors Local #1216 Mansfield, Ohio. "Breeze" could always be found helping his friends or someone in need. He was once a member of Dean Road Freewill Baptist Church, but also enjoyed attending Bellville Freewill Baptist Church and Belmont Community Church.
Gary is survived by two sons, Jeffrey and Jacob Hedrick, both of Shelby; two grandchildren, Jaden and Jocelynn Hedrick; three sisters, Donna Dunlap of O'Fallon, MO, Edna Kaffer of Salem, MO, and Ruby Hedrick of Shelby; a brother, Robert Hedrick of Mansfield, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Waiting to greet him at the gates of Heaven are his parents; and nine brothers and sisters, Agnes Oswalt, Annie Hedrick, Imogene Raglin, Edward, Eddie, Junior, Darrel, David and Joyce Hedrick.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2016, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will be held Friday, at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Gary Lambert and Pastor Paul Staton officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family.
