George Boyd

George R. Boyd, 75, of Mansfield died early Tuesday morning, July 22, 2003 at the Ohio Veteran's Home in Sandusky, Ohio. He was born March 4, 1928 in Cambridge, Ohio to Kenneth and Vialla Smith Boyd and was an area resident most of his life. George graduated from Zanesville High School in 1946 and Meredith Business College in Zanesville. He was formerly employed as personnel manager with Empire Detroit Steel and Cement Products. George attended Diamond Hills Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in the Pacific Theatre.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Hutchinson Boyd; two daughters and a son-in-law, Mary Jane Haldeman and Joy and Brian Daugherty, all of Mansfield; one son, Dale R. Boyd of Delaware; three grandchildren, Ellen Haldeman, Andrew Daugherty, and Josh Daugherty; one great-grandchild, Trinity Nicole Haldeman; and a sister, Florence Myers of Zanesville. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services, conducted by Pastor Phil Green, will be held at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Thursday, July 24 at 1:00 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Military graveside services will be held at Mansfield Memorial Park following the service.
