Grace Dunn

Grace Gladys Dunn, 92, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2009 in Sandpoint, Idaho. Grace was born on February 20, 1917 in Frederick, Maryland to Summerfield and Effie Umberger Bell. After her schooling she worked as a waitress before marrying Peter F. Dunn on February 18, 1939 in Frederick. They raised and showed the first line of Black Angus Cattle, introduced into the United States, which took them all over the country including Virginia, Maryland, New York, and finally to Ohio. Grace stayed at home with the children and took care of the home. When Peter passed away in 1976, Grace moved to North Idaho to be closer to her daughters. She also spent 17 years in Florence, AZ, before returning to Sandpoint in 2005. She enjoyed reading westerns, word search puzzles, cooking, watching soaps and westerns on TV, and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Frank Kennedy of Ponderay, ID, and Donna Davidson of Florence, AZ; two grandchildren, Jim Sue Kennedy of Girdwood, AK, and Kim Brian Carey of Old Town, ID; 3 great grandchildren, Davenie and Keith Carey of Old Town, ID, and Wyatt Kennedy of Girdwood, AK; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Rex and Sheri Remmers of Sandpoint. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Peter; daughter, Davenie Gerger; infant son, Tommy Dunn; son-in-law, Dean Davidson; three brothers; and three sisters.

Graveside services conducted by Rev. Christopher Thomas will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 10, 2009, in Mansfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Life Care Center Residence Council in Memory of Grace G. Dunn, 1125 N. Division, Sandpoint, ID 83864.
