

He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II. He founded American Air and Heating in 1976 and prior to that had worked for Welsh Plumbing as a HVAC service technician. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed wood working and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mildred (Lucas) Barr; his children, Iris (Don) Hatt of Ashland, Robert Barr of Cincinnati, Jody (Dianne) Barr of Ashland and Lori (Jim) Dillon of Morehead, Kentucky; grandchildren, Addie (Garett) Schneeg of Ashland, Julie (Tom) Kumpik of Hilliard, Ohio, Aaron Barr of Ashland, Amber Dillon and Jenna Dillon both of Morehead, Kentucky; and his great grandchildren, Garrin Schneeg, Ronin Schneeg, Ginger Schneeg, Liam Kumpik and Aiden Kumpik.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three infant brothers; a grandson, Derek Hatt; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Hatt.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at the Kroc Center Chapel, 527 East Liberty Street, Ashland conducted by Pastor Dan Moore followed by military services conducted by the Ashland Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call one hour prior to the services, from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m., at the Kroc Center on Tuesday. Burial in Chestnut Grove Cemetery will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio.
