For over 20 years, Hayden was a devoted employee at Kokosing Construction, where his colleagues and friends knew him for his integrity, reliability, and willingness to lend a hand whenever needed. He took great pride in his work, and his impact is still felt by those who worked alongside him.
Outside of his career, Hayden was known as the neighborhood "Grandpa" — a role he embraced with joy, always sharing his wisdom, warmth, and affection with the children around him. He adored spending time with younger generations, offering a listening ear, a helping hand, and endless stories.
Hayden's hobbies were as varied as they were cherished. He had a passion for competition shooting and hunting, activities that brought him both excitement and peace. He loved long walks, relishing the time outdoors, and was always up for a scenic drive — a perfect way for him to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Hayden's love for chewing was legendary among friends and family, and he could often be found with a chew in his cheek, smiling at the world around him.
Hayden is survived by his children, Todd Salyers, Allen (Kimmie) Salyers, Larry Perry, Elizabeth Fissel, and Jordan Fissel; grandchildren, Jessica Horton, and Hayden (Olivia) Salyers; great-grandchildren, Jaecyon, Ke’Andre, Aubrianna, and Zymira; and his best friend, Sherman Craft.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years who passed in 1998, Judy Perry; and his sisters, Bertha Lykins and Pauline Barta.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Wappner Funeral Directors-Mansfield, 98 S. Diamond Street from 11:00 am-1:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm. Hayden will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife in Windsor Cemetery.
