Helen O. Ebersole Green, 96, of Mansfield, Ohio passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Winchester Terrace Nursing Home in Mansfield. She was born to the late Martin and Sophina (Burger) Hiler on May 26, 1922 in North Auburn, Ohio.
Born and raised on a farm in North Auburn, just outside of New Washington, Helen was the youngest of twelve children. Having nine sisters, yet only two brothers, she could often be found helping her dad with the outdoor chores. These early years grew in her a love for tending to all things in nature, and a special place in her heart for animals. Helen enjoyed caring for and spoiling her many pets throughout her life, including cats and many, many dogs. A devout Catholic, she could often be found at the early morning mass at her home parish, whether it was Most Pure Heart of Mary in Shelby, Resurrection Parish in Lexington, or most recently St. Peter's Catholic Church in Mansfield. Helen had a sweet spirit and gentle nature, showing tenderness and attention to all she knew. This was a special trait that blessed the many residents and staff at Winchester Terrace, where she made many friends during her three and a half years there.
Helen is survived by her son, Jack (Patti) Ebersole; four grandchildren, Kimberly Ebersole, Jason Biglin, Andrew (Faith) Ebersole and Amanda Ebersole; one great-granddaughter, Eleanor Ebersole; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Ebersole; and all of her siblings.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-4:00 pm, Sunday, August 12, 2018, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. The funeral service conducted by Fr. Austin Ammanniti will be held Monday, August 13, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial be at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery, Shelby, Ohio.
