
Henry G. 'Hank' Konves, 82, of Mansfield died Friday, December 5, 2003 at MedCentral Hospital after a brief illness. He was born October 16, 1921 in Mansfield to Frank R. and Elizabeth Brandt Konves. Henry graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1939. He retired from Sherwin Williams Paint Co. in 1979 after 32 years as a branch manager. After retirement, he joined K-Rest Foods as the office manager for 11 years. From 1989 to 2003 he sold specialty advertising for the Sasco Co. and the Mercer Co. Henry was a member of Rotary International from 1956 to 2003 and was recently awarded the Paul Harris Fellow service recognition award. He was a member of the First English Lutheran Church and active in volunteer work there. Henry was also involved in the Home Builders Association for 20 years and a member of the VFW # 3494. Mr. Konves served in the U.S. Army during WW II in the medical corp. attached to the 5th Engineer Amphibious Brigade as a Tech Sergeant participating in the landing at Normandy and received the Croix de Guerre from France.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years; Evelyn Bower-Timmons Konves, two daughters and son-in-law; Juli and Edward Prettyman of Endwell, New York and Susan Konves of Oxford, Ohio, son and daughter-in-law; James and Susan Konves of Cincinnati, Ohio, seven grandchildren; Stephanie and William Kendall, Jeffrey Prettyman, Karen Prettyman, Kyle Prettyman, Erin and Frank Jurkiewicz III, Jaime Konves and Lindsey Konves, two great grandchildren; Brianna Kendall and Sarah Kendall, brother and sister-in-law; Robert and Charlotte Konves of Mansfield, nieces and nephews; Murray and Shirley Konves, Pam and David Mock, Penny and James Seaman, Bradley and Judi Konves, William and Lisa Konves and Kim and Terry Ward. He was preceded in death by his parents; Frank and Elizabeth Brandt Konves, granddaughter; Jill Konves, and two brothers; William and Frank Konves.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Monday, December 8, from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the First English Lutheran Church conducted by Rev. Paul Larson and Rev. Cloyd Kress. Burial will follow at Mansfield Memorial Park where military graveside services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the First English Lutheran Church or Rotary International of Mansfield.
