

Herbert H. Saylor, 77, of Mansfield, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at the Cleveland Clinic. Herb was born on February 7, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the son of Herbert and Esther (Lemmer) Saylor.
Herb was a veteran of the United States Army where he served in Germany and Korea. He married the love of his life, Mary Jane McVicker on May 23, 1981 and they spent 37 years together. A good father and extremely proud grandfather, Herb cherished his family. He was employed as a truck driver throughout most of his career and was employed at UPS, Tremco Asphalt Company, Smith Dairy, Nickles Bakery, Charnan Electric, and Shaw-Ott medical from which he retired. A friendly man who knew laughter made for a happier life, he had an amazing sense of humor and was very much a people person. A handy man who was always working on something, and greatly enjoyed working in his yard. He had a love for his Model A Ford, and the many friends, adventures and all the fun that was had in his Model A Ford. He was a 35 year member of Penn Ohio Model A Ford Club and its Copus Hill Chapter. Herb was a member of Mayflower Congregational Church where he served as an usher and trustee.
He leaves behind his wife, Mary Jane (McVicker) Saylor; his sons, Paul (Dianna) Saylor, Steve (Natalie) Saylor, and Jeff (Amy) Saylor; grandchildren, Clay (Laura) Saylor, Chris (Maggie) Saylor, Jessica, Matt, Brittany and Phillip Saylor; great-grandchild, Adeline Saylor; and one great-grandchild on the way, Henry Saylor; sister, Darlene (Blair) Bryant; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and several aunts and uncles. Preceding him in death were his parents; and two sisters and three brothers, Judy, Jack, Jim, Bobby, and Sandi.
Friends and family may visit on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 from 10:00 am-12:00 pm at Mayflower Congregational Church, 548 N McElroy Road. Dr. Richard Rader will officiate the funeral service at 12:00 pm at the church. Burial will follow at Ashland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or Hospice of North Central Ohio. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the Saylor family.
