

Irene H. Watson, 88, passed away Friday, October 27, 2017, at her home after battling Alzheimer's dementia. She was surrounded by her family and is now reunited with her husband of 68 years, Billy Watson, who passed away May 22, 2017.
Irene was born in Carter, Kentucky and attended Morehead State University. After marrying Billy, they moved to Mansfield and then Bellville, where they had four children. She graduated from Ashland University and taught third grade at Bellville Elementary School for 30 years. In addition to teaching, Irene enjoyed cooking, quilting and gardening. She was famous for her homemade pizza, zucchini bread and Rene's baked beans.

Surviving are three children, Cathy Watson Farst of Butler, Jim (Peggy) Watson of Bellville and Jack Watson of Columbus; three grandchildren, Cassy (Chris) Sager, John Watson and Luke Watson; and one great-grandson, Collin Sager. She is preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Myrtle (Colley) Haney; a son, Jerry Watson, who passed away on February 27, 2016; and a grandson, Tony Farst, who passed away on October 31, 2016.
A private service for the family will be held at a later date. Wappner Cremation Center is privileged to serve the family.
