
J. Lowell Kindinger, 72, of Mansfield, died unexpectedly Saturday, October 18, 2008 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following an accident. Ephesians 4:26 "In your anger, do not sin; Let not the sun go down upon your wrath." Born December 27, 1935 in Mansfield, Lowell was the son of Wilbur Paul and Pauline B. Mercer Kindinger. He retired from Westinghouse after 23 years of service as a tool and die maker. Lowell was a member of First Alliance Church, where he was a church elder, also a member of The Gideons. He was a foster parent through children services for many years and helped with the U-turn program of the Community Outreach Program through First Alliance Church. Lowell was an avid soft-ball player for over 50 years and also enjoyed other various sports, including ping pong and football.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy L. McFarland Kindinger of Mansfield; children, Deborah George Bender, Missionaries in Papa New Guinea, Elycia Tom Scheltzel of Littleton, Colorado, Gail Hector Herrera of Weatherford, Texas, and Cheryl Ben Thompson of Big Prairie, Ohio; Many foster children; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul Marilyn Kindinger of Mansfield, Vern Marty Kindinger of Defiance, Ohio, and Roger Dee Kindinger of Morehead, Kentucky; sister, Beth Joy Howard Fowler of Monroe, North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 2008 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield, Ohio 44902, where a Gideon service will be held at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Alliance Church, 291 W. Cook Rd., Mansfield, conducted by Dr. Steven Burggraf. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Wycliffe Bible Translators, in care of Deborah and George Bender, and/or The Gideons.
