
James C. Augustine, 90, of Mansfield, died early Friday morning, November 30, 2007 at Samaritan Regional Health System in Ashland. Born September 2, 1917 in Mansfield, he was the son of Frank and Rafina DiAchille Augustine. Jim retired from the Ohio State Reformatory after 30 years of service where he was the supervisor of the tailor shop and worked for 20 years at Frey Scientific. He was veteran of WWII, serving with the U.S. Army. He was a member of Richland Church of the Brethren. He was also an avid bowler.
Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Edith DeLong Augustine; daughter, Elaine Keith Kithcart of Ashland; son, Kenneth Betsy Augustine of Mansfield; four grandchildren, Carissa Mark Shaffer of Columbus, Angela Augustine of Mansfield, Joshua and Joel Kithcart, both of Ashland; two brothers, Charlie Wanda Augustine and Dominic Helen Augustine, both of Mansfield; three sisters, Esther Williams of Lexington, Annie John Thomas and Rosie Augustine, all of Mansfield; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Preceding him in death were his parents, four sisters, Mary Colarosa, Catherine Vogt, Jenny Kirschbaum and Florence Forwith and three brothers, Michael, Anthony and Joe Augustine.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday, December 3 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Rowsey officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
