
James Berger, 84, of Wooster, died unexpectedly, Friday, November 10, 2006 at Akron General Hospital. Born May 27, 1922 in Lucas, he was the son of John Sr. and Belle Marguerite Miller Berger. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Mr. Berger retired from Wayne Steel after 15 years, Weekly Auto Sales, and also worked for Wal-Mart for 12 years. He was an avid Cleveland Indians fan, and enjoyed fishing and vacationing in Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Ann Schneider Berger; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Jeanne Berger of Mansfield; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Gene Fletcher of School Craft, Michigan; stepson and daughter-in-law, Roger and Teresa Riblet of Orrville; grandchildren, Jason Berger, Shanna Dobbins, Derek, and Dan Fletcher; one great-granddaughter, Maddie Berger; two step grandchildren, Kelsey Vance and Jared Riblet; two step great-grandchildren, Lillian Vance and Jarrius Riblet; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Frances Berger of Lucas; two sisters and brother-in-law, Maxine Huntoon of Georgia, and Carolyn and Bruce Miller of Greenville; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Raymond and Mara Jean Cornell of Bellville. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Darrell, John Jr., Fred, and Robert Berger.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Mansfield. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. A luncheon will be served following the committal at Bethel Freewill Baptist Church, 3983 St. Rt. 13 N., Mansfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
