

James Douglas Boyd, 67, died Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at Woodlawn Nursing Home after a long illness. James was born August 13, 1937 in Meally, Kentucky to Clyde and Dorothy Boyd. He married Helen Jean McDowell on June 25, 1955. James retired in 1991 from General Motors in Ontario after 35 ½ years of loyal service. He was a member of Kentucky Colonel, Mansfield Lodge 35 F. and AM where he served as Chaplain, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of canton, Al Koran Shrine, Richland County Scottish Rite Association, Mansfield Shrine Club, Baku Grotto, U.A.W. Local 549, and Local 549 Retiree's. James was a loving son, husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren. He generously volunteered much of his time to many organizations. He truly will be missed by all whom knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Jean Boyd; mother, Dorothy Walters Boyd of Paintsville, KY; a son and daughter-in-law, James Daniel and Janice Boyd of Mansfield; three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna Gail and Dirk Macco of Stephenson, MI, Jean and Robert Collins of Mansfield, and Joan and Michael Young of Mansfield; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl M. and Norma Boyd of Lexington, David J. and Peggy Boyd of Williamsport, KY, Timothy and Bertha Boyd of Ashland, KY, and Terry L. and Melody Boyd of Shiloh; a half-sister, Frances Wilson of Paintsville, KY; mother-in-law, Liz E. Staniford of Mansfield; nine grandchildren, Amanda M. Boyd, Sarah E. Boyd, Danielle G. Macco, Dianne E. Macco, Kara H. Collins, Kelly L. Collins, Jesse B. Henry, Justin B. Henry, and James B. Henry; one step-granddaughter, Courtney Young; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark A. Boyd; father, Clyde Boyd; a brother, Larry Boyd; a sister, Marsha L. Boyd; and two grandsons, Daniel J. and Douglas A. Boyd.
Calling hours will be Friday, February 18, 2005 from 5-9 pm at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors with a service of remembrance at 7 pm. Masonic services will be held at 8:30 pm. A graveside service will be held Sunday, February 20, 2005 at 1:30 pm at the Boyd Family Cemetery in Williamsport, Kentucky. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
