

James "Jimbo" J. Carcione, 82, of Mansfield, passed away Saturday afternoon, September 8, 2018, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. He was born November 14, 1935, in Wheeling, West Virginia, to the late Rocco J. and Casmer (Bober) Carcione.
He was a graduate of Martins Ferry High School and West Liberty State College. Jim served in the U.S. Army and was a proud veteran. He moved to Mansfield in 1957 and began working at General Motors. He retired as a Senior Financial Administrator. Jim was a member of the Mansfield Elks, Lexington Moose Lodge, Mansfield American Legion, and Amvets.
All who knew and loved Jim thought he was simply the "best". He loved his family with all his heart, was generous, kind and gentle to everyone. He was devoted to the love of his life, his wife, Kathleen Lynch Carcione. Jimbo had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making others around him laugh. His favorite number was 8, and he loved it so much, he included it in his license plate. He enjoyed a good game of golf, even when it didn't necessarily go the way he wanted.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Kathleen Carcione; two daughters, Christina Metcalf (Larry Howell) and Kelly (Everardo) Ruiz; five grandchildren, Bryce Brooks, Vincent Metcalf, Tegan Ruiz, Xzavier Metcalf and Aaliyah Johnson; a brother, Robert (Nancy) Carcione; a niece, Debbie (Rocky) Webster; a nephew, Bobby (Cary) Carcione; and five great nieces and nephews, Kirstin (Zack) Verspoor, Logan and Luke Webster and Janie and Tyler Carcione. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 46 years, JoEllen Carcione.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2018, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. A Mass of Christian burial will be recited on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 104 W. First St., Mansfield. He will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park with military honors presented by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Academy, 1575 E.
